One thing I love is when black metal gets some care put into its production and is ballsy enough to retain that brutally evil, heavy vibe that IS black metal. Summon are apparently masters at this. Instead of going with the stereotypical foresty-sound intro, these guys instead opt for a mechanical, chaotic, and yet strangely ambient intro that harkens to black/death brothers in arms, Zyklon. In fact, I'm willing to bet that Zyklon fans would love this album. From the very first song, in classic black metal style, Summon roar, tear, rip and shred their way through the fabric of matter and time, until they feel that they've sufficiently sonically abused their listeners. With not
a single slow song on this album, Summon show the world that blackened
thrash can be, for lack of a more accurate term, totally awesome. I think
the perfect way to describe Fallen is the title of the tenth track: 'Loud
As Hell, Fast As Fuck'.
