Nuclear Assault

Third World Genocide

SPV / Steamhammer

7/10: Returning after a decade-long hiatus, the New York thrashers return!

13 Tracks, 40:33

It has been awhile since Nuclear Assault has been in business. Main man Danny Lilker has kept himself busy with a ton of other bands, but felt that it was finally time to get back to work with Nuclear Assault. The result? A tightly-packed package of hardcore-influenced thrash that isn't overtly astounding, but it gets the job done.

Nuclear Assault has always been socially conscious of the world around them. (Think Tom Morello without civil disobedience.) They are also clowns. (The song Cheese and Whine is a perfect song for those who do nothing but, well, ask for cheese with that whine.). But this is thrash disc. And NA brings it once again with a healthy dose of lethal intensity. Riffs come at you at breakneck speed, and before you know it, you are through.

TWG doesn't quite meet the standards of earlier works, but the spirit is still there, and that is all that is needed to make this a highly enjoyable listen.
