Infernal Legion

Your Prayers Mean Nothing

Moribund Records

5/10 - satanic black death metal

6 tracks , running time - 33:30

Yearning for some oldschool death metal akin to early Morbid Angel or Immolation? Infernal Legion may just be the fix you need.

Hailing from the Pacific northwest, Infernal Legion have laid down a evil as hell death metal record. Eerie guitar lines, scathing death vocals and the likes are abundant here. However, something is missing. Maybe it's the 5+ minute long intro? Or the fact that some of the drum lines are ummmm.. lacking something.

This is by no means a bad album, but the feeling of wanting more seems to prevail.
The guitarist do an excellent job of weaving you through tunes of death with some killer melodies, ala Dissection, and even early Incantation, and singer Josh Smith has some seriously evil sounding death vocals, but your humble reviewer is finding this a little sub standard. There are some amazing ideas being conveyed here, and the evil feeling that surrounds this disc is somewhat unrivalled by some. The problem, the drumming.... no timing issues our sound issues here, just the lack of fills, and the somewhat uninspired drum lines. More like a timekeeper than anything.

However, one can only see this band getting better and better as the potential is HUGE. And as said before, if you are craving some seriously old school evil death metal, then Infernal Legion is all you need.
