See the Promoters page for a listing of some promoters
in Ontario - it's not all of them, but I'm working on it.
Basically, unless you plan on being the one to book all
of your own shows. generally in your home town, you're
going to have to deal with a promoter. Promoters are
people who book shows for bands, generally at a couple of
venues that they've built up a relationship with. You work out
with them whether or not you'll get paid for playing, what gear
will be provided, etc. They will often also help you to get
opening bands, or to be an opening band for one of the larger
tours.
Mind you, this isn't the only way to play shows in other cities
- you can book them yourself, or network with other bands to
book shows together.
