Your ticket to (local) fame/infamy
There are a lot of free weekly, bi-weekly and monthly
entertainment newspapers and mags out there - I'm
trying to compile a list of them below. These mags
generally exist for one purpose - to grow the entertainment
scene. They generally provide artist interviews, album
reviews, show reviews, and show listings. Many of them
will have either staff or freelance writers who cover, or at
least know about, the metal scene. Read them for a bit to
get a flavour of what they're about, target specific writers,
and remember the ego-stroke - make reference to something
they've written and let them know what you're looking for
(CD Review, interview, show review, etc.) - they'll let you
know if they can do it and what would be a good time frame
for them to work in. Generally, calling them up last minute
doesn't work too well.
